After years of hearing about how great Southern Missouri Off Road Ranch is, I FINALLY got to make it to Missouri to see if for myself. Ten Jeeps from the Pine Belt Jeep Club group traveled over 10 hours from South Mississippi to make it to the park.

Just as everyone has said, this park was really awesome. The trails were well marked and offered plenty of fun trails for all types of offroad vehicles. The cabins and other facilities are super nice and we enjoyed our stay.

This video covers day 1 of our trip. We covered PeeWee's Crossing (since it's basically the access road), Rocky Road, Rattler, Bronco Buster, and more. There was some good wheeling on our first day, but wait until you see day two!

A few of us took a trip over to Stony Lonesome for the weekend. The last time we visited the park was right at the start of the pandemic, so we were anxious to get back over to Bremen to hit some trails that we had been talking about. It was wet and we did a TON of winching, but we had an awesome time. This was my first time getting the CJ on the trail since I bought it 11 months ago and I had a blast in that thing! Totally different experience than my TJ and now I can't quit thinking about how much fun I had in it.

Kyle did some great driving and crawled over some big rocks. On the flip side, he also smashed the rear corner right behind the back door. It was kinda bad, but he treats it like an XJ so he was OK with with. Actually, he already has the Motobilt corners on the way so there's that.

Stopher chose some tough lines and followed the bigger tire Jeeps all day without hesitation. It's amazing how being nimble on the trail is always such a big advantage.

Michael enjoyed his first wheeling trip. He has a TJ Rubi that he picked up a few months ago and he is about to start building it for the trail, so we are pumped to see that in action as well.

Kent couldn't get his 4 door JK to the park, but he rode shotgun with me in the CJ. With all the stuff that we rode, I'm sure it was killing him not having his Jeep. He was a trooper though and we had fun putting some trail time on Frank.

Trying to get the CJ ready for Moab has been a ton of work. It seems like one step forward and two steps back, but when it's finished it's going to be a ton of fun. After changing basically everything in the steering system for one reason or another, our hydro assist setup is not functioning and is making the wheel almost impossible to turn. I am new to hydro assist, so I took it down to The Donut Shop in Biloxi, MS to get Rich and Jason to try to help me figure some things out. We have yet to dial in the issue, but we are eliminating potential problems one by one.

Also, the clutch in this CJ is pretty beefy and requires way too much effort to press the pedal. We had planned to make some progress on this as well, but we spend basically the entire day on the steering issues. However, we did get to take a quick look at it and have a plan to hopefully improve that situation as well.

I am starting to get nervous about the possibility of not having this CJ to where I want it to be before our Moab trip, but I have a back-up plan... The TJ is about to get some changes just in case it get to take a trailer ride west.

The last few weekends have been spent in the shop working on getting the new CJ5 ready for the trail. Nothing too major had to be done, but it did have a quite long list of little tasks that I felt were necessary before I committed to a weekend of trail riding. I'd rather catch those issues in the shop, than deal with fixing them on the trail and having to cut a trail day short. So, I have learned a ton about the new rig and what all it needs to make me feel comfortable with it. This Jeep is going to be awesome and it will be getting some trail time very soon.

I wasn't expecting to be adding another Jeep to the shop, but when I found out that my buddy, Josh, was interested in selling his CJ5 I knew that I had to make it happen. I thought this Jeep was a kick ass old vehicle from the first time I saw it a few years back. It was mostly stock then and it has only gotten better as Josh built it up. This 1976 CJ5 has been stretched, motor swapped, axle swapped, and more, so it is going to be a ton of fun on the trail. I had been saving parts for a while to stretch the TJ and put it on tons, but being able to pick this one up means that my TJ can basically stay how it is for a while. So, with that being said, I will be putting my built KP60 and shaved 14 bolt up for sale. I am looking forward to cleaning this thing up and finding ways to make it my own along the way.
